Brad Pitt premiered his new zombie movie “World War Z” at MoMA to a starry crowd that included Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Oliver Stone, Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick, Jimmy Fallon, Darren Aronofsky, Sting and Trudie Styler. Introducing the movie along with Paramount Pictures chairman Brad Grey, Pitt said he was “humbled” to have so many of his friends in the room, and he even felt “shy” at seeing some of the big names there. Following Wednesday’s Peggy Siegal Co. screening, Pitt joined guests at the ‘21’ after-party where he chatted with Chuck Close, saying he was a fan and collector of the artist’s work. The blockbuster thriller got a thumbs-up from the celebrity crowd (some of whom were screaming and gasping during dramatic moments) including Willis, who said he “loved it.” Katie Couric told us, “It was scary, but great!” There was no sign of Angelina Jolie, but guests mingling with Pitt included Julianna Margulies, Ryan Murphy, Marina Abramovic, Bryant Gumbel, Savannah Guthrie, Gayle King, Jemima Kirke, Ashley Olsen with Cassandra Grey, Lorne Michaels, David Chase, Terry Richardson and Jann Wenner. Pitt left around 10:30 p.m. to make a surprise appearance at two fan screenings at Clearview Cinemas in Hoboken. We’re told the crowd “went wild” when he stepped in to introduce the movie, saying he’d screened it for friends in New York, but, “We can’t do it without showing it to the people we made the film for. You gotta do a screening for the fans. So we decided no better place to do that than New Jersey.”
