The Cannes Film Festival party scene was a wash-out this year as relentless rain and heavy winds put a damper on all that customary outdoor schmoozing along the Riviera. The Hotel du Cap’s terrace and pool below are usually the top spots to catch stars and the high-powered Hollywood execs chasing them. But this year, a Cannes fixture groused, “The terrace was shut down and everyone had to move inside. It’s still not bad, but it’s just not the same.” At AmfAR’s star-studded gala at the hotel Thursday, a disappointed spy said, “A crazy windstorm rendered the after-party all indoors. Crazy wind!” Boat outings were also scuttled as yachts stayed docked. “Giorgio Armani couldn’t take out his yacht with Leo [DiCaprio] and Nicole [Kidman] because it rained,” sighed a source. (On land, Armani opened a new boutique along main drag La Croisette.) Either way, some still managed to shine: “Stacy Keibler somehow looked unscathed by the rain outside the Carlton,” said one soaked producer surveying the scene. The fest ended yesterday.
