“The Wolf of Wall Street” star Jonah Hill found himself torn between two groups of women at the Mercer Hotel on Saturday night, and chose to hang with the older set, which included Arianna Huffington’s sister Agapi Stassinopoulos, over a trio of blond babes.
The actor was spotted in pants that were described as sweatpant-like in the SoHo hotel’s lobby at about 11 p.m., when a trio of attractive, 20-something blond women called him to their table.
An eyewitness said Hill, 29, accepted the offer, then told the ladies, “Let me buy you a round.” Our spy added, “He seemed sort of cocky, trying to impress them by telling jokes and being a ladies’ man.” Hill explained he’d just returned from seeing his sister in a play.
But after a half-hour with the blondes, Hill’s “Moneyball” director, Bennett Miller, arrived to meet him. Hill went to sit with Miller when suddenly, “Two cougars came and joined them,” our witness relates, adding, “The guys were really focusing on the women. It definitely was not a business meeting. It was bizarre.”
Another source said that one of the women was Stassinopoulos, 54 (the divorced author of “Unbinding the Heart,” who lives in LA), and that, “Jonah and his friend were just hanging out with Agapi and her friend. It didn’t look flirty, just like they were very involved in conversation.”
We’re told that when one of the three younger women tried to approach Hill to interrupt, he shut her down. “One of the girls later interrupted to ask for a picture,” says our spy. “Jonah seemed very caught off-guard, and just told her no.” Score one for the cougars!
Single Hill’s become a city fixture while shooting Martin Scorsese’s latest film, including partying at Avenue with Leo DiCaprio and at the Mondrian SoHo with a pretty blonde. He was also on a disastrous date in Chinatown, which a fan interrupted to tell him, “I buried my dad today, and I just want to say you’re gonna be one of the greats.”
