Joan Rivers officiates impromptu gay wedding at book signing

Joan Rivers’ book signing turned into a Big Gay Wedding Monday night at Barnes & Noble on Union Square.

After the author of “Diary of a Mad Diva” regaled the crowd of 400, a man got up and said, “It says in your book, you’re an ordained minister. Can you marry me and my boyfriend?”

Rivers instantly agreed, someone brought flowers up and the crowd all sang “The Wedding March” for Jed Ryan and Joseph Aiello, who went to the city clerk’s office Tuesday to get their marriage license for Rivers to sign.

The “something borrowed” was the flowers, said Joan, adding: “Something old was me, and something blue was my legs…It was such a New York thing. It was great.”

Joan, as she recounts in her best seller, had previously officiated at the wedding of party planner Preston Bailey.

“I love gay men, and they love me,” Rivers said. “I think because I remind them of why they aren’t attracted to women.”
