Disgraced former CBS anchor Rob Morrison was arrested for serial-dialing his estranged wife more that 100 times — violating an order of protection, authorities said Tuesday.
Morrison’s wife, former CBS MoneyWatch anchor Ashley Morrison, went to police, “physically shaking” and in a “very fragile state,” on May 25 to report the alleged harassment, according to the Connecticut Post.
She told cops she feared her husband “could kill her if she got him arrested.”
Morrison turned himself in to police on Monday for violating the protective order — which does not require that he stay away, but forbids him from undertaking any harassing activity.
Morrison’s lawyer, Frank Discala, denied that Ashley’s life was in danger.
“Even if that’s what she said — people do get emotional,” he told the Darien Times. “There was absolutely no threat of violence. They’ve been getting along great.”
Discala said he thinks the charges are bogus.
“They had a discussion that didn’t go the way people would like the discussion to go,” he said.
The calamitous couple were apparently arguing over the possibility of her relocating with their 9-year-old son, Jack.
The Morrisons’ marriage imploded in February 2013, when he allegedly choked her and threatened to kill her at their Connecticut home. Police arrived to find Morrison with a bloody nose and bruised lip and Ashley with red marks on her neck.
Rob Morrison resigned from CBS and completed a family re-entry program mandated by the courts. The charges were reduced and later dropped.
The couple reconciled last summer — but split up for a second time two months ago. He is allowed to walk his son home from school and stay at the house until his child’s bedtime, he told The Hour.
Morrison was released on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Tuesday.
