Elisabeth Hasselbeck bids emotional goodbye to ‘The View’ as she heads to ‘Fox & Friends’

Elisabeth Hasselbeck received praise and a standing ovation on her last day on “The View.”

She opened the show arm-in-arm with a shaky Barbara Walters, who admitted she was “a little verklempt.”

Hasselbeck told viewers, “I’m really happy and excited to confirm that indeed I will be joining the ‘Fox & Friends’ team in September….Today is officially my last day at ‘The View.'”

She then thanked the cast, crew and “everyone behind the scenes.” She also paid special attention to Walters, calling her “the best in the business” and her “leader and mentor.”

Hasselbeck is leaving “The View” and joining Fox News’ morning show “Fox & Friends” as a co-host, Page Six reported last night. She is following Walters and Behar out of the ABC daytime talk show to join Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade on the Fox couch in mid-September.

Joy Behar said of her conservative co-host, “Fox, gee — won’t you be a fish out of water there?”
