Palace ‘keeping an eye’ on social butterfly Pippa

As Britain anxiously waits for the Duchess of Cambridge to give birth, younger sister Pippa Middleton has hit the headlines, perhaps for the wrong reasons.

As The Royalist Tom Sykes notes in his Daily Beast column, the world has been closely watching Pippa since she and her perky rear glided down the Royal Wedding.

And while she isn’t royalty, according to Sykes, Buckingham Palace is facing a “Pippa Problem” and is keeping an eye on her as she flits through high-profile social events, bachelors, and job titles.

Sykes writes, “Astonishingly, Pippa was ordered by palace officials to lower her public profile just last week over fears she was hogging the royal limelight. The week before that, she had to pull out of a charity tennis match, again after pressure from the palace.”

However, it appears that Pippa isn’t buckling to palace pressure – note how she pushed ahead with her party planning book “Celebrate.” She has since landed a new writing gig with Vanity Fair and has recently set up her own company to manage her finances.

As Pippa finds her path, the palace perhaps hopes she should go back to being someone best seen from behind.

But another royal watcher tells Page Six, “Pippa has done very well under the constant glare of the media, and has been very careful not to embarrass her sister or the royal family. She is a young woman trying to find her way in the world.”

Perhaps she should move to New York – the recent announcement of her Vanity Fair deal was met with much excitement by US media and royal watchers.
