Bushnell ‘Sex’ suit settled

“Sex and the City” writer Candace Bushnell has settled a lawsuit with her former manager Clifford Streit, who claimed he made introductions that led to the creation of the HBO series and movies, and therefore he was owed more commission. Bushnell fired Streit in 1999, and they have been in an ongoing legal battle ever since. Streit — who reportedly was the inspiration for Carrie Bradshaw’s gay friend Stanford Blatch — sued Bushnell in 2005, claiming she had breached an agreement that he said entitled him to 10 percent of her “ ‘SATC’ income.” They settled in 2006, but this year Streit sued again, alleging she had breached the original settlement, and while court documents showed she had paid him about $230,000 from 2006 to 2009, he claimed that just wasn’t enough. We are told that the new settlement covers the “SATC” movies and future DVD sales, and that both sides have signed an agreement to make no further mean or unkind comments about the other. Streit and a rep for Bushnell declined to comment last night.
