Janeane Garofalo and comedy writer Rob Cohen got married as a joke 20 years ago in Las Vegas and didn’t realize they were actually hitched, as Page Six reported. But some matrimonial experts wonder if such an arrangement has serious repercussions. “It could be a train wreck and not so casual,” said Raoul Felder, the famed divorce attorney who’s represented Rudy Giuliani and the ex-wives of Martin Scorsese and Patrick Ewing. “The highest tax rate is for married people filing separately.” He added that potentially there could be a tax bill waiting for a couple who were unwittingly married and filing taxes separately for two decades. (Though he noted the statute of limitations would be three years.) Garofalo said hilariously at a New York Comedy Festival reunion for “The Ben Stiller Show” that she wed Cohen as a joke in the 1990s and didn’t realize the nuptials had stuck. But they dissolved the union Saturday since Cohen’s now getting married — seriously. Felder said usually couples who drink too much in Vegas and get married have it annulled after a few days, but, “This is a 20-year hangover.”
