Martha Stewart hit the town as “Glitter Girl” for Halloween — but her staff might think a better costume would be the Wicked Witch of the West after her company announced the next day it will lay off 1 2 percent of its staff in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Stewart told us Wednesday night that she threw her glittering costume together with “Martha Stewart glitter, available at [chain store] Michael’s” and Scotch tape. She explained, “I didn’t have time. We had the storm.” Sources tell us Stewart’s staff has been kept out of their Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia offices all week due to power outages, and is now “on pins and needles” to see who will be let go. “They sent a memo saying, ‘Thinking of you all [during] this demanding and difficult week,’ and then they’ll contact employees individually about the layoffs,” said a source. “Now the staff is all just sitting at home freaking out, wondering, ‘Are they going to contact me?’ ”
