Newly wedded NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire didn’t invite his New York Knick teammates to his wedding to longtime girlfriend Alexis Welch on Wednesday. But former Knick center Patrick Ewing happened to be at the couple’s reception at STK Meatpacking. Stoudemire and Welch — who got hitched in a private ceremony at the couple’s downtown apartment on 12/12/12, in front of their children and close family members — later hosted a reception with 25 more friends and family. Ewing was coincidentally at the restaurant, having dinner with a separate group. The Knick legend came by Stoudemire’s table to congratulate the couple. Spies told us that while the party was served champagne to toast the occasion, there was no wedding cake or dessert served and no speeches, either (although we hear a bigger bash is planned). Earlier in the night, Stoudemire volunteered his time by taking calls for donations at the 12/12/12 concert for Hurricane Sandy. He also tweeted a photo of the married couple’s rings with the caption: “12/12/12 now has a special & spiritual meaning for us.”
