Britney Spears’ may not be making a return to the judging panel on “The X Factor” for being “boring Britney,” according to reports.
The singer could be facing the boot from the Fox competition, which ended its second season on December 20, according to US Weekly.
A source tells the mag, “Britney will get the boot….It isn’t working.” She joined a judging panel which included Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid and Simon Cowell. Of show boss Cowell, it added, “He wanted crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney.”
Sources also tell Page Six that Britney, who landed a $15 million contract, didn’t impress producers of the show.
One source tells us, “Britney got a huge contract, and was expected to deliver massive drama and massive ratings, but she did neither.
“Britney seemed very nervous and shy, she wasn’t able to do many press commitments, and she was a little too nice as a judge. Producers wanted drama, tears and meltdowns, but there were none.
“But the biggest problem was she didn’t bring in the ratings to justify her enormous salary. Demi, who got about half her deal, actually turned out to be better television and had a stronger following.”
Another source said it was “too early” to make any decision about the judging panel for the next season, saying, “Auditions for the next season start around the country early new year, but they’re just producers auditions. The judges don’t come on until the summer, so a decision won’t be made until June.”
An X Factor spokesperson said “No one has even begun discussing what next year’s judging panel might be – any stories which claim otherwise are complete speculation”
