Aronofsky and Scorsese: Two-way respect

It was a mutual lovefest as Martin Scorsese presented “Black Swan” director Darren Aronofsky an award at the First Time Fest’s closing event Monday night at the Players Club. “When I was trying to make my first film, I would daydream and fantasize that I could somehow walk into Marty — Mr. Scorsese’s — office, and just express my passion, and he could just give me a tip or two,” Aronofsky said of the legendary director before discussing debut movies in general. “The specific thing about first films is that they’re filled with this energy that somehow seeps out of us as the years go by, and we’re just constantly trying to find that root source again,” he said.
