Bieber apologizes to angry fans for late UK show

Justin Bieber isn’t having the best time in England.

Last night, the 19-year-old teen heartthrob heard an unusual chorus of boos after he turned up nearly two hours late for his London concert.

He was scheduled to take the stage at London’s O2 Arena at 8:30 p.m. but finally appeared around 10:20 p.m.

This morning, Bieber issued a lengthy apology on his Twitter account, saying that curtain time was pushed back to 9:35 p.m. and finally appeared late due to “some technical issues.”

“Last night I was scheduled after 3 opening acts to go on stage at 935 not 830 but because of some technical issues I got on at 10:10..so…I was 40 min late to stage.

Bieber also wrote to his 35 million followers, “there is no excuse for that and I apologize for anyone we upset. However it was great show and I’m proud of that.” He then vowed to run on time on for tonight’s show.

In the final message, the “Baby” singer said his relationship with the media was “not always easy but I’m trying.”

Several outlets picked up on fan anger following his late showing at the Monday night concert. The Sun reported that weeping concert-goers, some as young as five-years-old, had gone home with their parents before Bieber showed.

BBC News reports that fans endured an endless loop of Michael Jackson songs and had no explanation for the late start. They apparently started booing an hour before Bieber showed.

Bieber did not offer an on-stage apology last night, although the O2 Arena later tweeted an apology to “all the Justin Bieber fans for the lateness of his show tonight.”

Bieber is due to play the same venue tonight and on Thursday and Friday.

According to Reuters, many attendees vented their frustration about having to wait, while others reacted angrily to the headlines.

“Justin Bieber is my fave person but 2 hours late on stage is a joke!” a fan named Jess tweeted. “Does he realize that he has fans under the age of 10?”

Others were quick to defend him: “Feel really bad for @justinbieber now! Yes he was late but he put on a flipping good show! It was amazing”

Bieber’s visit to across the pond has not been the best. He famously tweeted he had the “worst birthday” when he celebrated his 19th on March 2nd.

This week, reports surfaced that Biebs and his entourage, including 14-year-old Jaden Smith, were turned away from a London nightclub because they could not supply adequate proof of their age.
