One of the reasons Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez is on the hunt for an apartment in a high-rise is that he needs an elevator, sources say, while he recovers from surgery. According to sporty spies, A-Rod’s been living in a four-story townhouse on Bank Street in the West Village, but all those stairs do not agree with his rehab from hip surgery. “He can’t be going up-and-down the stairs in his house while he’s healing,” explained a source. Page Six exclusively reported this week that Rodriguez — who has remained behind in New York for his rehab while his teammates headed to Tampa for spring training —has been on the hunt for a new pad and checked out teammate Ichiro Suzuki’s former Upper East Side apartment on the 25th floor of luxury high-rise the Laurel, “among a number of other luxury places.” Rodriguez sold a full-floor bachelor pad last April on the 35th floor of the Rushmore on Riverside Drive for $6.6 million.
