Bill and Hillary Clinton were spotted this week at Holland Taylor’s new one-woman show about former Texas Gov. Ann Richards. Also at the Vivian Beaumont the same night was former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and her astronaut husband, Mark Kelly, and Oscar-winner Meryl Streep, who went backstage after the show with regular Vanity Fair photographer Brigitte Lacombe. Said a spy, “The Clintons are both mentioned in the play, during which Richards has a few phone conversations with President Clinton.” We’re told the ex-prez told Taylor, “We met Ann Richards in 1972, and all of those stories she tells about me are true — that’s the way it happened.” Streep told Holland, who also wrote the play, “I’m in awe. Will you write something for me?”
