Kim Kardashian reportedly sat through a secret nine-hour divorce deposition at her lawyer’s office this week, insisting that she was genuinely in love with Kris Humphries when they tied the knot.
The pregnant reality star is currently in an ugly divorce battle with Humphries, where the NBA player claims his estranged wife only married him for publicity.
According to TMZ, the 32-year-old star hit back at her estranged spouse on Tuesday, saying that she “really did love” Humphries when he popped the question in front of E! cameras, despite their marriage lasting 72 days.
The gossip site reports that Kardashian, accompanied by her lawyer Laura Wasser, “testified under oath” that the success of her reality show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” played no part in her decision to marry her then-boyfriend.
Humphries’ lawyer, Lee Hutton, has been adamant that Kardashian wed the athlete to boost ratings and consequently “defrauded” him.
However, sources have told TMZ the lengthy deposition “didn’t help his case” as the Nets star reportedly did not even show up for the hearing.
Hutton is said to have “not asked much at all about the reality show and whether it was staged,” despite previously threatening to “blow the lid off” the reality show.
An alleged deposition from a show producer leaked last week revealed that the reality show isn’t so real; the scene where Humphries got down on one knee was re-shot because Kardashian did not like her initial reaction.
The case will finally come to trial on May 6. The former couple have been embroiled in an ugly divorce battle for the past 17 months.
