One cool car that arrived just in time for the New York Auto Show will have to remain under wraps for now. According to sources, tiny-car brand Smart imported a vehicle on which it collaborated with furniture line BoConcept to be displayed for a month at BoConcept’s Madison Avenue store. But a source said, “They brought it from Germany, but forgot to get a needed permit to have the car displayed inside a building.” Now the car “has to be kept under a blanket for a week-plus until they get the right permit.” The Smart was unveiled for photos at an event Wednesday, then quickly covered. Said a spy, “Instead of a snazzy prototype, there’s just a lump under a blanket.” Smart-driving celebs have included Simon Cowell and Justin Bieber. Meanwhile, the Auto Show kicked off with its annual East Side House Settlement Gala Preview Thursday night at the Javits Center — and at the Jeep-sponsored event were rappers and socialites alike (who likes cars better?) including Waka Flocka Flame, EPMD’s Erick Sermon, Fendi heir Fe Fendi and Yaz Hernández.
