John Mayer has broken his silence on his failed relationship with Katy Perry.
“It was a very private relationship going in,” Mayer said during an interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”
Though he’s been unafraid to talk about past exes like Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Simpson, the singer says with Perry it’s different.
“It was a private relationship during, and it’s a private relationship still,” he said.
News emerged a few weeks back that the music power couple ended their romance for a second time.
“I can understand asking the question based on some previous answers I have given, but I have finally learned how to put the wall between one thing and the other,” Mayer told DeGeneres.
“I’ve been much happier since then. I’m on the same journey as everyone else. Coupling is a tricky thing. It’s a tricky thing. I want everyone to be happy,” he added.
According to reports, work seems to have driven the two apart. Mayer is gearing up for a new tour following throat surgery and Perry has been working on her new album.
