Shortly after actress Leah Remini broke away from Scientology, a domain name identical to other Web sites attacking former members and critics of the church has been registered online.

RadarOnline reports that on July 11, WhoIsLeahRemini.com has been registered with GoDaddy.com. Indeed, according to domain search database, whois.net, the URL is currently unavailable. The site has not yet launched.

Similar “Who Is” attack sites have launched for other high-profile individuals who have denounced or left the church, including “Crash” director Paul Haggis — who renounced the religion in 2009 in a blistering letter that described alleged abuses and cover-ups that forced him to leave after 35 years.

His “biography” on WhoisPaulHaggis.com reads: “A status-driven screenwriter who exploited a tenuous connection with Scientology to grab headlines via a publicity stunt whereby he ‘resigned’ from the Church—when he had not been an active parishioner for decades.”

Other similar smear sites are linked to each other (this is not a complete list):

Radar has been unable to confirm any ties between the Web sites and the Church of Scientology.

Page Six reported last week that Remini quit the church following years of “interrogations” and “thought modifications” after questioning Scientology practices and the whereabouts of leader David Miscavige’s wife, Shelly.

Kirstie Alley, Scientology member and an outspoken defender of the church, is reportedly furious at the “King of Queens” actress for leaving.
