Why my sister left Scientology: Leah Remini’s sister speaks out

Leah Remini’s older sister Nicole has come forward after the “King of Queens” actress split from the Church of Scientology.

In an interview with Twin Cities radio station myTalk 107.1, Nicole said the church started to turn its back on the star after she questioned Tom Cruise’s relationship with Scientology leaders.

“You know the funny thing is you start questioning things that are connected to Tom, things getting a little crazy,” Nicole said in her Monday interview (via RadarOnline).

“Leah [told a friend]… ‘You know, I just think that it is really weird how involved Tom is with the upper levels of the Church.’ Like what, she just started questioning a little bit like, what was going on…And somebody actually wrote a report on her — her best friend wrote a report on her that she questioned it.”

Nicole, who was Leah’s assistant on the CBS sitcom, then described how the organization became concerned about the actress’ questions.

“Well then Leah got pulled in it’s like how dare she question what is going on with Tom and his relationship with people within the church.”

As Page Six reported last week, Remini threatened to call police, sources said, after “her many unanswered questions” about the whereabouts of leader David Miscavige’s wife, Shelly, while attending Cruise and Katie Holmes’ 2006 wedding.

Nicole explained in her radio interview that her sister has been “curious for years” about Shelly’s alleged disappearance.

She added, “Where the hell is [Shelly]? You know? This is how I see it playing out. Shelly’s going to come out of the woodwork because in my world, I feel like they have her somewhere, wherever they have her. She’s probably paid to be quiet, and I have a feeling they are going to have to do something to bring her out of the woodwork because this is the primary question that everybody’s leading with. This is all Leah asked, and this is what it’s turned into?”

Nicole is also a former member of the church, and told myTalk 107.1 that “everybody” in her family has left following Leah’s exit.

“Everybody left… when this all came down, everybody had to make a choice whether they were going to stick by Leah or stick by the church. So they all left at the same time.”
