A $20k security deposit was at the center of the dispute between Bill and Hillary Clinton and real-estate mogul Elie Hirschfeld, the owner of the East Hampton summer home the Clintons rented last summer.

Page Six reported last month the Clintons this season are renting a $200,000 a month, six-bedroom home at 709 Daniels Lane in Sagaponack owned by Republican donor Michael Saperstein. But the political family settled there after getting into a dispute with Hirschfeld over their security deposit on the rental at 211 Lily Pond Lane.

Landscaping and utility costs ate up much of the deposit, and Hirschfeld told us: “There was a discussion at the end of last summer relating to the security deposit amount, but I believe we came to an amicable agreement.”

According to a source, the Clintons paid $100,000 to rent the home for just 15 days last year — meaning the place cost the Clintons a whopping $6,700 a day before the $20K deposit, which wasn’t returned in full — a deal that Hillary’s close aide Huma Abedin helped negotiate for the family.

A Clinton rep didn’t get back to us.
