Our excitement for Emma Stone’s first stab at hosting “SNL” has been building for weeks and I’m happy to report that the just released promos for Saturday’s episode do not disappoint. We’re particularly enamored with her dedication to the bits and that Ben Affleck gag.
But how much can we gleam from the pre-show promos? Perhaps a lot.
This season’s theme has been: the funnier the commercial, the worse the live show. And vice versa. Jane Lynch’s promos were about a C- while the show was a B+. The week before Bryan Cranston killed in his bits while the show was a big snooze. And the premiere episode featured underwhelming ads but Amy Poehler delivered big time on Saturday.
By that logic, her episode will fail to live up to the promise of these promos, but if anyone is capable of shrugging off a curse, it’s Emma! Seriously, just ask her about the time she stole from a gypsy and live to tell the tale!
