She was upbeat and cheery at the DKMS Leukemia gala last night in New York City, but several outlets are claiming that Halle Berry was simply smiling through the pain since she is splitting from longtime boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.
Both TMZ and RadarOnline have what they call solid sources saying Halle and Gabriel have not only been living apart for nearly a month, but that Halle has already met with a divorce lawyer.
Although they never married, Halle and Gabriel do share a daughter, 2-year-old Nahla Ariela Aubry, and custody is becoming an issue. Apparently, it was Gabriel who ended their nearly five-year partnership, citing their age difference (he’s nine years younger than 43-year-old Halle) as one reason the relationship simply “wasn’t working anymore.”
The split is being described as amicable, with both parties working together to reach a mutually agreeable custody arrangement — which must be a refreshing change of pace for Halle. Her previous breakups with David Justice and Eric Benet were anything but pleasant.
