Silda Wall Spitzer revives her social life

Silda Wall Spitzer is coming out of the shadows.

The estranged wife of former governor Eliot Spitzer will host a fundraiser at her Fifth Avenue apartment on Thursday for Michelle Nunn, a Democrat running for the U.S. Senate in Georgia.

“It’s surprising because Silda has been keeping a low profile and staying out of the spotlight,” one politico told me. “She’s never done anything like this before.”

Some people who received the invite to the reception, where tickets start at $1,000, were also surprised that Silda is still using the name Spitzer even though Eliot disgraced it by patronizing prostitutes, and then embarrassed her by having an affair with Lis Smith, who was Mayor Bill de Blasio’s spokesperson during his campaign.

There’s no reason why Silda should keep his name, given that their three daughters are all grown up.

Silda’s co-hosts at the fundraiser for Nunn, the daughter of longtime U.S. Sen. Sam Nunn, include Sarah and Victor Kovner, Michael Turpin and Kevin and Margi Arquit.
