Bruno Mars started his career as an Elvis impersonator, and he used his old material to buy time at his New Year’s Eve show.
“How much time do we have?” Mars asked from the stage at Las Vegas’ Cosmopolitan Hotel’s new venue the Chelsea, as midnight approached. Told he had 15 minutes to kill, Mars wondered, “So now what are we gonna do?” and began taking requests.
Spies said he performed Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock,” Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel” and other hits before ringing in 2014, and then belted out a medley of tunes by Bell Biv DeVoe and closed the show with his own songs.
Later in the hotel lobby, a woman was overheard calling, “C’mon, we’re going to Bruno’s suite!”
