Daniel Craig & Rachel Weisz make rare red carpet appearance

Daniel Craig and his wife Rachel Weisz made a rare joint red-carpet appearance together in Manhattan on Monday.

The actors were honored for their work with the Opportunity Network, which helps high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds reach top colleges and develop successful careers.

The couple held hands on the red carpet as they arrived at the Night of Opportunity Gala at Cipriani Wall Street.

We’re told Oscar winner Weisz and James Bond star Craig have made a multi-year commitment to the Opportunity Network, and had asked to be seated at the dinner with the students.

Accepting their award together, Craig thanked the charity and introduced Weisz, who said: “We want to share our honor with all the students. I want to tell you about how we felt meeting them. We sat with them and they told us their stories. It turned out to be one of the most moving experiences of our lives. We sat there and had to fight back our tears. They weren’t tears of sadness. They were of complete awe and wonder and admiration at these young people’s tenacity, focus and drive and dignity and intelligence. We were so humbled by them and so very moved.”

The low-key couple, who married in 2011, are said to have previously only made two official red-carpet appearances together, at the 2013 Golden Globes and the premiere of “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.”

Also honored at the dinner were Sallie Krawcheck, leader of the women’s network 85 Broads, and the NFL Players Association’s executive director DeMaurice Fitzgerald Smith.
