Sherri Shepherd on divorce: My integrity speaks for me

What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Or at least that’s what Sherri Shepherd is telling herself about her impending divorce and custody battle.

“Going through my craziness, I hope that my character and my integrity speaks for me, so I stand behind that,” the 47-year-old “View” co-host told E! News on Tuesday.

Shepherd’s soon-to-be ex-husband, Lamar Sally, filed for legal separation on May 2. He’s also requesting custody of their unborn child, due via surrogate in July. On May 12, Shepherd filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

To make matters worse, Shepherd’s first husband, Jeff Tarpley, is seeking full custody of their son, Jeffrey Jr., 9. Tarpley claims his son has been neglected by the TV personality and actress.

“I know that you cannot grow without pain,” said Shepherd. “Growth is hard and growth is a struggle, and it hurts and you’ve got to go through that in order to grow or you stay the same.”
