‘500 Days of Summer’ screenwriter gets revenge on ex-girlfriend

“500 Days of Summer” screenwriter Scott Neustadter admits the film about a failed relationship was written in vengeance after he had his heart broken while studying at the London School of Economics in 2002. Neustadter, who with co-writer Michael H. Weber took Best Screenplay at the Independent Spirit Awards, refused to say if the name of the girl who became the inspiration for Zooey Deschanel‘s character really is Jenny Beckman. The movie starts with the words, “Any resemblance to people living or dead is purely coincidental. Es pecially you, Jenny Beckman. Bitch.” He told us, “All I know is that since it came out she has de-friended me on Facebook.”
