“The Vampire Diaries” co-stars Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have added more flames to the are-they-or-aren’t-they fire after being spotted getting cozy at last night’s Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party.
Dobrev and Somerhalder arrived at the party together and were photographed with their arms around each other, as well as dancing with John himself. In a snapshot taken further into the night, Dobrev and Somerhalder stand pressed against each other, Somerhalder’s hand on the small of Dobrev’s back. Somerhalder holds Dobrev’s hand as both stars smile sheepishly for the camera.
Us Weekly reported in September that the two were in fact a couple, based on their glowing statements about each other. They quoted Somerhalder saying of Dobrev, “She truly enjoys life. Her desire to experience and appreciate everything around her, and chuckle and enjoy it, is great.”
Meanwhile Dobrev said of Somerhalder, “He always has a positive outlook and positive energy, and he’s always happy. He is a glass-half-full kind of guy, not half-empty.”
But Dobrev recently said that the magazine jumped to conclusions in stating that the co-stars were a couple.
“We haven’t told anyone anything,” she explained in Nylon magazine’s February issue. “I remember that interview. They asked us, ‘What do you love about your co-stars?’ And we said, like, 10 different things about every single person on the show. But they’ll choose what they want to write about. And it’s fine — people have that fascination. I can’t say I’m not interested in Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt and their family. But it’s something you fight really hard to persevere and keep private.”
Dobrev was recently named Favorite TV Actress at the People’s Choice Awards, the first ever write-in nominee to win the award.
