MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell injured in car crash abroad

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell was injured in a car crash while on vacation abroad and will be off the air for several weeks while he recovers.

O’Donnell, who hosts “The Last Word” on the cable news network, was traveling with his brother Michael when the taxi they were riding in was involved in an accident.

The news anchor and his brother were transported back to the States—Lawrence to New York, Michael to Boston—for treatment. Both are expected to make a full recovery, but Lawrence will take an extended leave from MSNBC.

The network confirmed the news via a statement Monday afternoon, adding, “Lawrence will be off from MSNBC for several weeks as he recuperates. Our thoughts and support are with the O’Donnell family and we look forward to having Lawrence back on the air soon.”

Alex Wagner will fill in for O’Donnell at 10 p.m. on Monday.
