Katy Perry to perform at the Grammy Awards

Katy Perry will be taking the stage at the 54th annual Grammy Awards on Feb. 12, giving her first US performance since splitting with her husband of 14 months Russell Brand.

While Perry backed out of the People’s Choice Awards earlier this month, reports say she is a go for the Grammys. The “Fireworks” singer is nominated for Record of the Year, as well as for Best Pop Solo Performance.

ADELE TO ATTEND GRAMMY AWARDS, REPORTS SAY

Performing at the Grammys will no doubt be bittersweet for Perry. Last year when she performed at the recording industry’s biggest event, she sang “Teenage Dream” on a swing as footage of her wedding to Brand played on a screen behind her.

In addition to Perry, rumored performer Adele has confirmed that she will make a comeback appearance at the Grammys, after taking a break from her career for throat surgery.

“I’m immensely proud to have been asked to perform at this year’s Grammy Awards,” Adele said in a press release yesterday. “It’s an absolute honor to be included in such a night and for it to be my first performance in months is very exciting and of course nerve-racking, but what a way to get back into it all.”

While LL Cool J will host the event, Rihanna, Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars, Kelly Clarkson, Jason Aldean and Nicki Minaj are also confirmed to perform.
