Karl Lagerfeld disses Adele, Lana Del Rey, M.I.A

Fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld has a lot to say about today’s pop stars. The fashion icon believes that Lana Del Rey is full of “implants,” Adele is “too fat” and M.I.A. displays “not the best behavior.”

Lagerfeld is serving as the guest editor of Metro Paris, and the fashion icon used his temporary platform to sound off on today’s top stories. When asked about singer Lana Del Rey, who was spoofed this weekend on “SNL” just three weeks after a maligned performance on the show, Lagerfeld said, “I prefer Adele and Florence Welch. But as a modern singer she is not bad.”

Lagerfeld continued, “The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice. Lana del Rey is not bad at all. She looks very much like a modern-time singer. In her photos she is beautiful. Is she a construct with all her implants? She’s not alone with implants.”

Lagerfeld was also asked about M.I.A., who performed with Madonna at the Super Bowl on Sunday night and flipped the bird to camera as she sang. Lagerfeld did not approve of the rapper’s actions.

“Nowadays people give the middle finger quite quickly – it’s not the best behavior,” he said. “Everybody does that, what’s new about that? It’s just become a bad habit.”

As for Lagerfeld’s take on the celebrities who regularly appear in magazines, Lagerfeld says, “Women in magazines are 50% bimbo and 50% pregnant women.”

He did not elaborate on which famous women he fit into each of those two categories.
