Kinky ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ to begin merchandise bonanza

Fans of the best-selling bondage book “Fifty Shades of Grey” will soon be able to get their own “Fifty Shades” lingerie, bedding, perfume and other products.

The book’s author, E.L. James has picked a UK company, called Caroline Mickler Ltd., as global licensing agent for merchandise based on her racy books. And, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Mickler’s currently considering creating, “’Fifty Shades’-based lingerie/sleepwear, apparel, fragrances, beauty products, bedding, home furnishings, and stationery, jewelry and adult products aimed at adult women.”

The company said it sees its “Fifty” merchandise push as the first step in building “a worldwide brand” for the saucy franchise, which is also being developed as a film series.

While no specific products have been announced, Mickler will meet potential licensees at upcoming trade shows, like Las Vegas’ Licensing Expo and London’s Brand Licensing Europe.

James’ book series tells the story of a college coed who’s introduced to the world of kinky S&M by a mysterious billionaire, Christian Grey.

The Post reported last week that New York hardware stores have seen a run on sales of rope, and other bondage gear, bought by female fans of “Fifty Shades.” And that sales of gray ties at Brooks Brothers have even shot up because of the book, which features silvery neckwear on its cover.

We’ll see if Mickler partners with makers of duct tape, handcuffs and riding crops…
