There are wedding bells in the air for La Toya Jackson.
The “Life with La Toya” star, 58, is engaged to longtime friend and business partner Jeffre Phillips, 46, People confirms.
“I had no clue,” Jackson explained of the proposal. “I couldn’t understand why he was so nervous.”
Last August while on vacation in Hawaii, Phillips set up the lavish proposal complete with one of Jackson’s favorite meals, chicken soup. He surprised Jackson with a 17.5-carat diamond ring, which he hid under her dessert tray.
“It wasn’t a fast yes,” Jackson confessed.
Although the pair have been best friends and business partners “forever,” no one made a move. “It was always professional,” she said. “No one really crossed those boundaries.”
