Rosanna Scotto got the biggest laugh at the Table 4 Writers Foundation awards dinner at the New York Athletic Club with her impersonation of Elaine Kaufman.
Scotto, who co-hosts “Good Day New York” with Greg Kelly, emceed as Chazz Palminteri, Stuart Woods and the mother-daughter team of Mary and Carol Higgins Clark were honored by the foundation that helps promising writers.
Scotto told how Elaine once flew to France in coach for a film festival because she was notoriously too thrifty to pay for first class. The zaftig Elaine barely fit in the seat, and the flight attendant trying to serve dinner had trouble lowering her tray table.
“Oh, just lean it on my t - ts,” growled Scotto, in her Kaufman persona.
The crowd included Gay Talese, Tony Danza, Marsha Mason, Father Pete Colapietro and Elke Gazzara with “Forrest Gump” author Winston Groom.
