In between planning her wedding to John Molner and winding down her talk show, Katie Couric will give a commencement speech at American University’s School of Communications on May 10. Couric’s father, John, was a graduate and adjunct professor.
“She’s a giant in her field, an experienced journalist, storyteller, well-connected to the issues and the concerns of today,” said communications dean Jeff Rutenbeck.
The school’s current faculty includes George Clooney’s father, Nick Clooney — who has taught at the university since 2008. DreamWorks Television co-president Darryl Frank is an alum.
Couric’s last episodes of “Katie” will air in August shortly before her wedding.
