RFK Jr. races down mountain where brother Michael died

Aspen regulars held their breath as Robert F. Kenendy Jr. barreled down Ajax Mountain — where his brother Michael was killed in a New Year’s Eve accident 16 years ago — days before the anniversary of the tragedy.

Making the run in a local slalom race more eerie, spies said, was that Kennedy was competing for Aspen Valley Hospital, where Michael was pronounced dead.

“It was like, ‘Uh-oh, daredevil Kennedy all over again,’ ” said a source.

RFK Jr. won an initial heat for his team, which eventually fell short, and he was consoled by his girlfriend, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Cheryl Hines.

The two were “kissing in a VIP tent,” said a source.

The Kennedys were in full force in Aspen this season — including Kerry Kennedy and Maria Shriver — which a resident called a “re-emergence” after Michael’s death.

After the race, RFK Jr. hosted an event for the Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club with Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith at the St. Regis Resort.

Also spotted in town: Tory Burch, Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell and Nicole Noonan.
