We’re a long way from 2016, but a roomful of fans at Cipriani Wall Street didn’t think it was too early to name Hillary Clinton our next president on Tuesday night.
The black-tie crowd at the Elton John AIDS Foundation gala gave the former first lady a standing ovation, and Revlon billionaire Ronald Perelman — an independent who supported Mitt Romney — introduced Hillary as “the next president of the United States.”
“You’ve got my vote,” Perelman told Clinton.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the other Democrat who might run for the White House, forced a smile. His girlfriend, Sandra Lee, was honored with Clinton at the event.
Also smiling was Huma Abedin, who was shadowing her boss Clinton without the baggage-laden presence of her husband, Anthony “Carlos Danger” Weiner.
Emcee Matt Lauer drew laughs from the likes of Elton John, Billy Joel, Courtney Love, Michael Strahan, Jeff Koons, “Girls” star Allison Williams and singer Ciara.
