Mariah Carey couldn’t make it up the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards in her figure-hugging dress without special attention. A spy told Page Six, “She wanted security to help her on the red carpet, but event staffers wouldn’t allow it, so they stormed off and went through the side entrance.”

After winning Favorite R&B Artist in LA Wednesday, Carey was helped onstage by hubby Nick Cannon. She said, “I especially want to thank my husband . . . for helping me with this dress, because it’s a drama.” Carey’s rep said she didn’t make it up the red carpet because “We were stuck in horrible traffic . . . and could not make it in time . . . she did all the media after receiving her award.” Carey’s speech was more coherent than the rambling rant she gave a day earlier at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, where she admitted, “We had splashes of champagne, and I love [‘Precious’ director] Lee [Daniels], but he’s a bad influence.”
