Kristen Wiig ‘didn’t understand’ serious role

Former “SNL” star Kristen Wiig kidded about taking on a more serious role for her new film, “Hateship Loveship,” at MoMA Tuesday.

“I didn’t understand it at all,” she joked to reporters at a Cinema Society screening. “I didn’t get the movie. I didn’t get the script. And I still don’t. I haven’t seen it.”

Sporting a long blond bob, Wiig continued, “I was so unbelievably flattered [director Liza Johnson] thought of me for a role like this because it’s not really comedic . . . It was like nothing I have ever done before.”

Also at the premiere and the Montblanc after-party at The Skylark: Christine Lahti, Michael Shannon, Jess Weixler and Judd Hirsch.
