Lena Dunham slams Jezebel over unretouched Vogue photos

Jezebel, you’ve lost a fan in Lena Dunham.

In an interview posted Thursday, the “Girls” creator/producer/actress spoke candidly with Grantland’s Bill Simmons about the pointed backlash she received from the feminist Web site jezebel.com for her February Vogue cover.

“That was messed up,” Dunham, 27, said of Jezebel’s offer of $10,000 for unretouched photos of the actress cover shoot. “I think Jezebel is really smart and funny. I think it’s just like, once you’ve been attacked that way, it’s hard to enjoy. It’s hard to enjoy once you feel like they’ve made such a monumental error in their approach to feminism.”

Unfortunately for Jezebel Editor-in-Chief Jessica Coen, the joke was on her, as the unretouched photos proved that Vogue gave their controversial cover girl very little treatment.

Dunham added, “Instead of saying, ‘Hey, we kind of f–ked up, these pictures aren’t that retouched, Lena, enjoy the Vogue spread you’ve been excited about since you were 8 years old,’ [Jezebel] was like, ‘She’s not retouched, but she could have been.’ It was this weird, almost like political maneuvering that I just had a lot of trouble respecting.”

Kiss and make up, girls.
