Scrappy New York Ranger Sean Avery has split with supermodel Hilary Rhoda just in time for Fashion Week, and he’s not letting word get out about the breakup without a fight.

Sources say fiery Avery and the beautiful face of Estée Lauder ended their two-year relationship a few weeks ago. Since the split, Avery, a former Vogue intern, has been dating other women while Rhoda works the runway during Fashion Week, walking in shows including Carolina Herrera yesterday.

But when we asked Avery about his breakup with Rhoda, he warned Page Six that if we write about it, “I’ll see you out.” Not if we see you first, tough guy.

Despite his fighting talk, a rep for Madison Square Garden denied Avery was trying to threaten us out of writing this story. The rep said, “I have spoken with Sean, and he made it clear to me that his comments were not meant to be threatening in any way. He also does not wish to make any comments about his personal life.”

Avery and Rhoda were last seen together in August in Southampton at the Stop Extinction benefit, where the hockey star snipped that he “doesn’t talk to Page Six,” and then stalked out of the party early, with Rhoda in tow.

Avery, known for his fiery temper on the ice, hosted the event just weeks after his arrest in LA for allegedly getting into an altercation with a cop who tried to break up his party. Reports said he was abusive to police officers. The charges were dropped.

Rhoda had better watch out, too. Avery was suspended from six games in 2008 for trash-talking his ex-girlfriend Elisha Cuthbert, who moved on with Calgary defenseman Dion Phaneuf. He told reporters at the time, “It’s become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds.”

An agent for Rhoda, who was previously linked to Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez after posing in a GQ spread with him, didn’t get back to us.
