Russian billionaire Vladimir Doronin is the investor behind the recent acquisition of luxury hotel group Amanresorts, which includes the breathtaking Amanyara in Turks & Caicos and Amanpuri in Thailand.
Doronin, a former partner of Naomi Campbell, was behind a joint venture led by Peak Hotels & Resorts Group and the management of Amanresorts International, which struck a deal to buy Amanresorts from the hotel arm of India’s DLF for $358 million.
The new venture, Aman Resorts Group Ltd., reportedly set aside a large capital reserve to upgrade existing properties and buy new ones. Doronin’s rep wasn’t available.
