The contentious divorce between Deion Sanders and his estranged wife Pilar Sanders has finally come to a bit of a resolution – the athlete was awarded full custody of his two sons, ages 11 and 13, and joint custody of his 9-year-old daughter.

According to DallasNews.com, Pilar, an aspiring actress and model, told reporters she was “flabbergasted” at the result of the trial. Her attorney Larry Friedman said they will appeal the decision.

The former Dallas Cowboy will have the sole right to determine where his three children live, a Collin County jury decided yesterday. He will make all educational, health and extracurricular decisions for his two sons, and will share responsibility of his daughter.

“I’m thankful; I’m elated,” the father said in the McKinney courthouse. “In any war, there will be casualties, but I didn’t want the casualties in this case to be my kids.”

The two have yet to settle over the finances in their ugly divorce. The judge did not allow testimony about the April 2012 domestic dispute that landed Pilar in the Collin County Jail.

The divorce was first filed by the NFL player in September of 2011 and came to a head after the domestic disturbance in April. The Associated Press reported that they were both charged with misdemeanor simple assault and sought protective orders against each other.
