Ne-Yo sued for defamation by ex-girlfriend

Ne-Yo is being sued for defamation by his ex-girlfriend Jesseca White, who once claimed that the singer was the father of her child.

White gave birth to a son named Chimere in 2005 and listed Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, as the father on the birth certificate. A subsequent paternity test, however, proved her wrong.

They reached a $575,000 settlement agreement in 2009 but now White claims that the “Let Me Love You” crooner breached an agreement to not go public with information about their relationship. (White is not to be confused with the fashion model who’s launching a new Style Network show.)

Ne-Yo did a Sept. 2012 episode of “Behind the Music” on VH1 where he discussed his relationship with White, breaking the confidentiality clause of their agreement.

According to TMZ, White says since the episode aired people have called her a host of nasty things and accused her of gold-digging. She claims it’s damaging her career as a photographer and a graphic designer.

Last December, White hired famed attorney Gloria Allred for the defamation case. Allred claims that Ne-Yo portrayed her client as a liar who broke Ne-Yo’s heart and disappeared, according to The Inquisitr.

Allred said White has been “beset by nausea, vomiting, and hair loss” because of what Ne-Yo said about her in the special.

White has asked the singer to settle the matter outside of court, but he has yet to respond.

In September, Ne-Yo tweeted that he was not using the show to air dirty laundry about his ex (he incorrectly spells her name).

“I need it to be known that the purpose of my BEHIND THE MUSIC wasn’t to bash Jessica White. We were young, mistakes were made. I FORGAVE.”

“Holding grudges messes with your blessings. I do not hate Jessica White. I wish her and lil’ Chimere all the best where ever they are. LOVE.”
