‘Battle Royale’ could be finito

After a criminal case against Adam Hock fizzled in Manhattan Criminal Court, we hear that Pierre Casiraghi and his rich cohorts in the infamous “Battle Royale” Double Seven nightclub brawl are about to drop their civil case against Hock. Sources say depositions were about to begin in the case — in which Casiraghi and pals including Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld reportedly sought unspecified damages for allegedly being “assaulted, struck and attacked” in the fracas last year — but now, the Monaco royal’s backing down, in part due to pressure from his aristocratic relatives. “When Adam took a disorderly conduct plea, and the criminal case was dismissed, it kneecapped the civil case,” explained a source. “And as documentation was requested in the civil case, [Casiraghi] got cold feet and decided to drop it.” But we hear it was the Monaco palace that was particularly keen to put the case to rest: “The royals were horrified and just wanted this to go away,” said another source. “They didn’t want a trial to be a public spectacle.” Hock’s lawyer David Motola did not return a call for comment. His criminal lawyer, Joe Tacopina, would not comment beyond, “We never had any intention of settling this case.”
