After staying home with three young kids for a few years, Kevin Costner was ready to get back into action in “Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit” opposite Chris Pine, who inherited the Ryan role from Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck.
“One day I realized that I had enough of the freaking minivan, because my back was killing me dealing with three car seats,” Costner said. “I finally thought, ‘I have to start doing actions movies because this is too tough!’ ”
The thriller, directed by Kenneth Branagh, opens Friday.
Costner turns 59 the next day.
