Tavern on the Green reopens with Martha Stewart and more

The new-look Tavern on the Green officially reopened Monday night under new owners Jim Caiola and David Salama with a gala event featuring tunes from cabaret singer Marilyn Maye with Billy Stritch and Lance Horne, and a late-night performance by Justin Vivian Bond.

Spotted supping on chef Katy Sparks’ grub were Martha Stewart, Fran Drescher, Beth Stern, Drew Nieporent, Bruce Vilanch, Michael Feinstein, Mario Cantone, hockey hero Rod Gilbert and “Real Housewife” Countess LuAnn de Lesseps.

Regis Philbin recalled the restaurant’s former incarnation and said he’d bought one of its iconic Tiffany lamps as a souvenir for his wife, Joy.

“It cost me a fortune!” Philbin quipped.

Joy added, “We got it, and Regis paid through the nose.”
