Hitchens acknowledges smoking’s role in cancer

Christopher Hitchens recognizes his throat cancer might have been brought on by his smoke-filled lifestyle. He discussed the role it may have played in his health crisis with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach on his 77 WABC radio show. “Making the most out of every moment and enjoying every dinner often kept the flow of wine and other stimulants going,” Hitchens said. He quoted Winston Churchill on his love of cigars and brandy and related it to his own overindulgences: “I’ve got more out of it than it’s got out of me.”
